Occupational Therapy


Occupational Therapy is a rehabilitative therapy provided by a certified Occupational Therapist. Occupational therapy concentrates on helping individuals gain or regain the necessary skills to accomplish everyday activities in their daily lives. Therapeutic activities are aimed at helping individuals with physical or mental disabilities achieve maximum functioning and independence within their environment. A plan of care will be established and focused primarily on the individuals functional level and specific needs.

Instruction in Daily Living Skills

                        *    Adaptive equipment needs assessment, recommendations, and
                              training
                        *    Adaptive dressing and bathing training - addressing factors such
                             as physical, perceptual, cognitive dysfunction as well  as
                             Physician precautions/restrictions for surgical patients
                        *    Assessment / recommendations for home
                             adaption/modification for home safety , mobility, independence
                        *    Adaptive homemaking skills training

Neuromuscular and Sensory Re - Education

                        *    NDT Techniques
                        *    Modalities
                        *    Inhibition and facilitation techniques
                        *    Balance Training

Visual Perceptual Training

Upper Extremity and Hand Rehabilitation

                        *    Strengthening and range of motion
                        *    Splinting

Caregiver and family instruction for independent follow through in program instruction and client management
